This summer I went with Youth Travel to Easton Taiwan, that is one of the best trip I joined ever! We enjoyed three days in Fonan (a small county of Hualain, the A-mei aboriginal called “Cilamitay” means large roots).

Every one knows in summer time is very difficult to buy train ticket to East. Therefore, I only could got the ticket arrive about 5:00 in the morning but because this I got chance to see the sunrise in Fuli and beautiful early morning.

11:00, the people from Funnan came to pick us up then we start our lovely trip. We ate delicious lunch with vegetables picked from the mountain. After that, we start to learn the traditional skill with aboriginal A-Mei. We tried to pick yellow rotang palm, fishing with fishing net and also grow corn in the old elementary school.

At night, we had a fantastic BBQ in the mountain. We was drinking, singing, and dancing under the stars. Moreover, when the party went to the end. We walk through “small Tien-Hsiang” to our home-stay. There is no light in that area, all you could see is full of stars in the sky. I so touched by this because in the city with all lights on the ground like Taipei we could never have this view.  We lay down on the road between the agricultural lands to see meteor. It’s was amazing for me to see so many meteor in one night.

In the last day, we got up in the early morning to Chih-shang to pick up seedling use for transplant. There is another time I saw the beautiful sunrise in Hua-Lain. The farmers working in a big ground and all the people rolled seedlings to take them out. We rolled the seedlings and put them on the truck.
After all the people waked up, we start to move to “Cihalaay” where is one of the beautiful Terraces is. This special terraces was made by ancestry if A-mei people. They made irrigation canals to guide the water from creek to terraces.

We transplant rice seedlings in such amazing place and also fellow the irrigation canals to the creek. On the way, we meet many different animals. That let me understand one of the roles in natural is “don't bather them, then they won’t hurt you”. The water in the creek is so clear and cool, we had so much fun in the creek.

In the end, we backed to one of A-mei people’s house to make Mochi and eat together. We drank with old grandmothers and dancing. In the farewell time, everybody was so happy because we had lots fun and we know we will come back here again. In this trip, we not only enjoyed the life in the mountain but also learn the history and nature in Fonan.  That is one of unforgettable memory for me.
